Yes I'm angry with the world.
Can't participate without money.
Trying to fit in doing unpaid work, why am I doing unpaid work?
Because i mustbe very stupid.
UCU pension negotiations are going well UCU members will have thier pensions protected, good, but I don'e even have a pension, haven't been that smart.
I've been in crisis management mode for all my working life, just haven't got onto a career path, no career path, I've worked hard all my life but not in the right places, independent ones
that haven't amonted to much, quick fix jobs, need a job, get a job, working so hard that I haven't thought that one day I'll be thinking that I might need a pension,
ever the outsider.

thick socks
I'm thinking, I must be very thick, been wearing thick socks on a hot day in May. May is a challenging month in terms of being comfortable in ones clothes, there can be clear blue skies in the mornings, promising warmth and sunshine but then I find myself riding to work in the rain, or battling a strong northerly, icy fresh wind, while I'm barely covered, maybe in just a t-shirt and then spend the rest of the day with white fingertips.
Do you know that feeling of having hot feet, wearing the wrong pair of socks, or the ones with hole, or odd ones, I wore odd shoes once but that's another story in another job.
So when I was told to look at the clock when I got back to the warehouse after tea break and it was 4.20 instead (tea break is 4-4.10pm), the fellow worker who walked in with me said she'd been to the toilet, I reminded myself of the importance of having an excuse but what came out of my mouth was "I'm wearing thick socks"
the end of another day and you got a free sausage today - what the fuck does that mean!!!

overcoming my pride
the christmas party
I am proud, I don't like to take hand outs or be the recipient of benevolent gestures from the corporation for which I pack books, I'd just like to be paid a living wage for my labour and service, and I'd like that work to be respected.
So,in the past I hadn't considered going to the works christmas party,I had instantly dismissed it as a patronising gesture and somehow very undignified to dress up and be a guest of my employers.
The gesture was to collect people, take them to the venue for a meal and drinks and then a taxi home.
But
it was my birthday the day we told that we could reserve a place for the christmas party. It was announced at the meeting that we needed to take a form from the team leaders desk, fill out our choice from the menu and then take it to the office with a £10 deposit, the deposit is returned on the night, and it was announced that places were limited this year as the number of staff had increased and based on figures for attendance at last year's party that only 200 places were available for 500 employees.
WHAT????
Ok, that's grossly unfair, and I tried to discuss it with others as we walked to our posts to start the day's shift but I didn't get much response ...I was furious

Teresa May blew it - why didn't she snub Trump?
Why did we host that toxic Trump?
I really don't get it.
Why is it that layers of sincophants line up lick his hideous arse? Trump is the most obnoxious git on the planet. But there's a more sinister undertone to this deference, it demonstrates support for that toxic megalomaniac and his dangerous policies. I don't want to go into the details of that, do your own research, there's plenty of evidence out there to show that he's a threat to the planet and to the people, he only serves his cronies.
Why are there so many layers of compliance?
Teresa May is a weak Prime Minister, she has lost credibility and will likely face a vote of no confidence this week, she's on the way out.
If I was her I'd be thinking, is there anything I can do to gain some credibility?
You're too late woman.
Why, why why did you host Trump? You twat.
Maybe refused to shake hands, worn a ' Save Melania' T-shirt, cancelled his visit at short notice, spoken out aginst his policies, or some other mischevious act of non-compliance, she had nothing to loose and she could have gained a lot of public support and secured an impressive legacy for herself.
In no way do I want to give the Tories advice on how to redeem themselves as a credible Party but that was a missed opportunity.
By the way, I'm looking for a job.
Does anyone want to employ me as a publicist?
This is your last chance, I'm going back to the book packing warehouse.
I really don't get it.

Imagine if she'd snubbed him.

Fu*k the job search
'You may be disappointed to hear that another candidate had more experience, so this time your application has been unsuccessful' read the feedback letter from my most recent job interview.
Another rejection.
I don't need to be told HOW THAT MIGHT MAKE ME FEEL and, no I'm not disappointed,
no, you twat,
I'm relieved,
I don't want your minimum wage job, never did.
It's just that I need income and I'm running out of options. I need to pay my council tax and charge my phone, need to get about, and to buy tickets for a Sleaford Mods gig in September.
And, fuck the violunteering (great typo) job too, working for free, what's that about?
It's about creating an illusion of participation, you ride the morning communtor train, have a place to go, people to meet, things to do, get to wear a lanyard to show the that you're a participant, that you have a place, that you belong to an organization, you go to meetings, but it's all crap unless I get paid. I'm a fraud, I'm deluding myself if I'm not getting paid then obviously my work has no value.
Speaking to all volunteers now, let's wake up guys, we're working for free - in hospitals, shops, food banks, for the environment, we're holding it together, and without pay, why????
Well speaking for myself now, it's because I do want to work, to participate
but doesn't my time, my experience, my engagement have some value?
It does have value. Just found an online calculator, my volunteering hours (6 hours/week) have been valued at
£4,502.16/year according to the calculator of the Office for National Statistics
Where do I send the invoice?
I hereby call A GENERAL STRIKE for all volunteer workers - that should get some attention.
We need pay.
Damn all exploitation.
Better to sit at home, no need to be alone,
today I had a visitor
